Camping with the grandsons

I promised Nathan and Andrew that I would take them on a camping trip after I retired. Last week, the weather was nice at Roosevelt Lake and we packed up and headed up there.

After we set up our camp space, we walked down to the lake shore on Thursday afternoon.
A perfect camping dinner for boys: hotdogs!

The boys were excited to get to sleep in the over-the-cab loft bed.

On Saturday morning, it rained a little, so we stayed inside playing games waiting for the weather to clear.

Around 10:30, we drove over to Tonto National Monument and hiked up to the Lower Cliff Dwellings. It was a very educational visit to this ancient village, and also great exercise walking up the steep trail.

We had a picnic lunch near Roosevelt Dam before heading back to town.

A short trip, but lots of fun!

  1. Roosevelt Lake is one of my favorite places to visit. Glad you had a good time with the grandkids. This was your first trip with no experienced rv'ers around. That must mean you are an expert now.

    1. As long as my "expert advisors" are just a text message away...

    1. Did you notice Nathan is taller than me, now?

    2. I almost said something about that. Of course it's expected when you look at his mom and dad.
